Shervin Pishevar: Twitter, The World, and The US Economy

Shervin Pishevar, who recently resigned from Sherpa Capital, made a statement using Twitter in early 2018. Pishevar has invested in companies such as Slack, Uber, and Warby Parker, so many think he is someone to pay attention to.

Shervin Pishevar twitter burst was comprised of 50 tweets that gave details on his feeling about the global economy, the US markets, and the technology world. No subject was off limits.

Some companies that he called unicorns were Amazon, Apple, and Google. He goes on to explain how these giants of the business world buy up little startup companies before they can take off. Although this practice may have served these big companies well in the past, Pishevar thinks that the method will soon turn around and bite them.

The US stock market is bound to take a tumble. In his first tweet, Shervin Pishevar went on about how he observed the fact the market did not perform well in late winter, early spring of 2018. He pointed out February in his example. He bets that all of the profits gained during 2017 will be lost. Gains from 2018 are already a distant memory. Pishevar points out the reasons for the breakdown are interest rates that continue to expand, growing deficits with credit, and the loose tax system or giveaways as he called it.

The US government bond system has broken down. Pishevar comments on how they are not what they once were. The act of the central banks purchasing bonds was sufficient for some time. Buying the bonds could adjust the market, but Pishevar tweets that it is no longer having the effect it intended to.

Silicon Valley was mentioned and the fact that the Valley use to have a strong pull for newly trained technology people and young entrepreneurs. Those days are slowly fading as the world markets are offering innovative thinkers new opportunities. It is not wrong to expand the talent globally, but it will have a negative impact on the growth of the American economy.

Tweet number four, significant funds are going to fall to their knees. Shervin Pishevar went on to call out two funds: Volatility Indices and Managed Future Funds. Shervin Pishevar is an immigrant. He comments on the way the US systems now affect the international economies. In 2008, Pishevar wrote his thoughts on how the international way copies the American style.
